A digital literary magazine committed to the accessibility
of literature for readers and the enrichment of writing for writers.
the story of free lit magazine
Free Lit Magazine was created in 2014 when its creator and Editor-in-Chief, Ashley Newton, wanted to make a difference for writers and artists struggling to get their work published by competitive magazines and publications. Many publishing houses and literary magazines prefer that their writers and artists have a publication history, but without one, it can be a difficult field to break in to. Free Lit Magazine exists to help bridge that gap, especially for new/emerging writers who are just getting comfortable with sharing their work.
The goal of this magazine is to help "set literature free" from the minds, journals, and computers with which writers and artists use to hone their craft. In doing so, the work can reach an audience and provide the individual with an outlet for their voice. It is also a judgment-free publication – writers, artists, and photographers from all walks of life are welcome here. However, the magazine is currently only published in English.
Free Lit magazine is free and published bi-monthly with a mandate to be committed to the accessibility of literature for readers and the enrichment of writing for writers. Emerging and professional writers and artists - as well as a team of staff writers - donate their talents to the magazine to help foster a love for the arts in both the readership and those who submit content. Unpublished writers and artists are given an opportunity to share their work with the public and build the desire and confidence to pursue a creative career.
